Rao Bahadur (2026)

Rao Bahadur is a Telugu-language psychological drama and mystery film that was released in theatres on 3 July 2026. Written, directed, and edited by acclaimed filmmaker Venkatesh Maha, the movie stars Satyadev in the title role alongside Vikas Muppala and Deepa Thomas, with music composed by Smaran Sai. The film also gained significant attention as it was presented by Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar under the GMB Entertainment banner. Blending suspense, dark comedy, and magical realism, the movie offers a unique and thought-provoking cinematic experience.

Set against the backdrop of a declining aristocratic family, the story follows Bhuvanam Ramappa Rao Bahadur (Satyadev), a man from a royal lineage who struggles with terminal liver cancer, alcoholism, and severe psychological issues. Despite his deteriorating condition, his continued survival confuses doctors and those around him. At the same time, his wife Renuka (Deepa Thomas) has isolated herself for eight years following the tragic death of their second son, adding to the family’s emotional burden. As hidden secrets and painful memories begin to surface, Rao Bahadur explores themes of inherited pride, personal downfall, and psychological torment, perfectly reflecting its central idea that “Doubt is a Demon.”
