Toaster (2026)

Toaster is a Hindi-language black comedy thriller that premiered directly on Netflix on 15 April 2026. The film marks the directorial debut of Vivek Daschaudhary and stars Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles. It is also notable as the first production venture of Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekhaa under their banner, KAMPA Films. Blending dark humor with suspense, the film offers a unique and entertaining take on everyday middle-class life.

The story follows Ramakant (Rajkummar Rao), an extremely frugal man who carefully records every rupee he spends. Against his wishes, his wife Shilpa (Sanya Malhotra) convinces him to buy an expensive toaster worth ₹4,999 as a wedding gift. When the wedding is unexpectedly cancelled the very next day, Ramakant becomes desperate to recover the gift and get his money back. His mission leads him to an orphanage run by the sharp-witted Nandini (Farah Khan), where the toaster has already been donated. As he secretly tries to retrieve it, he finds himself caught in a chaotic web of blackmail, strange incidents, and a murder mystery connected to a corrupt politician’s hidden secrets. Toaster combines comedy, crime, and suspense into a quirky and unpredictable adventure.
