The Girlfriend (2025)

The Girlfriend is a multi-lingual romantic drama directed by Rahul Ravindran, originally made in Telugu and also released in Hindi. The film presents a nuanced and hard-hitting narrative about toxic relationships and female self-discovery. It stars Rashmika Mandanna as Bhooma Devi, an innocent postgraduate student who falls in love with her charismatic college peer, Vikram (played by Dheekshith Shetty). Their seemingly fairytale romance soon turns suffocating as Vikram’s extreme possessiveness and misogynistic behaviour turns the relationship psychologically controlling.

Forced to confront emotional abuse, Bhooma embarks on a painful yet empowering journey to break free and reclaim her self-worth. The film’s music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab (songs) and Prashanth R Vihari (background score). It was released in theatres on 7 November 2025.
