Tharun Bhascker

Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam (born 5 November 1988) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, actor, and television presenter who primarily works in the Telugu film industry. Born in Chennai and raised in Hyderabad, he studied engineering before pursuing filmmaking and later trained at the New York Film Academy. Tharun gained national recognition with his debut feature film Pelli Choopulu (2016), a romantic comedy that won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu and established him as a fresh voice in contemporary Telugu cinema.
Following his successful debut, he directed films such as Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi (2018) and Keedaa Cola (2023), while also expanding his career into acting with roles in films like Mahanati (2018) and the lead role in Meeku Maathrame Cheptha (2019). Known for his realistic storytelling, humour, and youth-oriented themes, Tharun Bhascker is regarded as one of the filmmakers who helped bring a new-age, indie-style approach to Telugu cinema. In recent years, he has continued balancing directing and acting, taking on new projects and screen appearances.
