Tavvai (2026)

Tavvai (transl. Goddess of Misfortune) is a Hindi-language supernatural horror-mystery thriller that is set for its global digital premiere on 29 June 2026 on JioHotstar. Skipping a traditional theatrical release, the film is launching directly on the streaming platform. It is directed by Nirbhay Jariwala and Jayesh Vrushiraj and features Arpit Ranka, Bhushan Pradhan, Manoj Joshi, Spandana Pali, Tripti Sahu, and others in important roles.

The story is deeply inspired by Hindu mythology and explores themes such as Pitra Dosh (ancestral curse) and the spiritual connection between Goddess Lakshmi and her elder sister Alakshmi, also known as Tavvai, the goddess associated with misfortune and conflict. The narrative follows Pramendra, who inherits a terrifying curse linked to Tavvai and soon finds his family and village facing strange and dangerous events. To save everyone, he must uncover hidden family secrets and perform difficult rituals to break the ancient curse. Tavvai combines mythology, mystery, and supernatural horror to deliver an intense and atmospheric story.
