Shankar Mahadevan

Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian singer and composer who has worked extensively in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. Born on March 3, 1967, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, he comes from a Palakkad Tamil Iyer family. Shankar began his musical training early, learning Hindustani classical and Carnatic music. He played the veena from the age of five and studied under Pandit Shrinivas Khale and T.R. Balamani. He graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology and worked as a software engineer before transitioning to a career in music.
