Sameer Anjaan
Sameer Anjaan, also known simply as Sameer (born Shitala Pandey on 24 February 1958 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh), is a celebrated Indian film-song lyricist whose career spans over four decades. He holds the Guinness World Record for writing the most number of songs in the Hindi film industry, having penned lyrics for more than 4,000 songs across 500+ films. Born into a musical family—his father being the famed lyricist Anjaan (Lalji Pandey)—Sameer grew up surrounded by poetry and music. Though he initially pursued a commerce degree and even worked at a bank, he soon left to follow his true passion for lyric writing.
Sameer began his career in the mid-1980s and rose to prominence in the early 1990s with superhit albums like Aashiqui and Dil. Over the years, he has crafted timeless songs for Bollywood’s biggest stars, contributing to music that defined multiple generations. His ability to write simple yet deeply emotional lyrics made him one of the most beloved and prolific lyricists in Indian cinema.
