Riteish Deshmukh
Riteish Vilasrao Deshmukh (born 17 December 1978) is a well-known Indian actor, filmmaker, television presenter, and producer who works predominantly in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He was born into a prominent political family in Latur, Maharashtra — his father, Vilasrao Deshmukh, served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Before entering films, Riteish earned his degree in architecture from the Kamala Raheja College of Architecture in Mumbai and even worked as an architect in New York while undergoing acting training.
Riteish made his Bollywood debut with Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003 and soon gained popularity for his impeccable comic timing in films like Masti, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Dhamaal, and the Housefull series. He also showcased his versatility with impactful performances in thrillers such as Ek Villain. Expanding into Marathi cinema and filmmaking, he produced and acted in Balak-Palak (2013), starred in the blockbuster Lai Bhaari (2014), and made his directorial debut with Ved (2022), one of Marathi cinema’s highest-grossing films.
He is married to actress Genelia D’Souza, and the couple have two sons, Riaan and Rahyl. Known for blending commercial appeal with grounded performances, Riteish Deshmukh remains a popular and respected figure in Indian entertainment, continuing to take on diverse projects both in front of and behind the camera.
