R. Madhavan
R. Madhavan is a well-known Indian actor, writer, producer, and filmmaker with a strong fan base in both Hindi and Tamil cinema. He was born on 1 June 1970 in Jamshedpur, which was earlier part of Bihar and is now in Jharkhand, into a Tamil Brahmin family. Madhavan first gained attention through television shows and small roles in films. His major breakthrough came with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Alaipayuthey in 2000, which made him widely popular.
Many of his Tamil films were later dubbed into Telugu, helping him reach a wider South Indian audience. His first full-length role in a straight Telugu film came much later with Savyasachi (2018), where he played the main antagonist and was praised for his performance. Known for his charming screen presence and versatility, Madhavan has taken on a wide range of roles throughout his career. He also made his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022), based on the life of Indian rocket scientist Nambi Narayanan.
