Penchal Das
Penchal Das, also known as Putta Penchal Das, is a renowned Indian singer, lyricist, and folk artist known for his contributions to the Telugu film industry, particularly in Janapadalu (folk songs). Hailing from Devamachapalli village in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, he blends traditional Rayalaseema folk music with contemporary styles.
He gained widespread recognition with his debut song ‘Daari Choodu Dummu’ from the 2018 film Krishnarjuna Yudham, which became a chartbuster despite the film’s box office performance. Apart from his music career, Penchal Das works as a teacher in a school and is also an award-winning Batik artist. His ability to balance multiple artistic pursuits while preserving folk traditions has made him a respected figure in Tollywood and beyond.
