Patang (2025)

Patang is a 2025 Telugu-language sports comedy-drama and holds the distinction of being the first Indian film completely centered on the culture of competitive kite-flying. Directed by debutant Praneeth Prattipati, the film features newcomers Pranav Kaushik, Vamsi Pujit, and Preethi Pagadala in lead roles, supported by well-known actors Anu Hasan, SPB Charan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Vishnu Oi as a commentator. Music for the film is composed by Jose Jimmy, and it was released theatrically on 25 December 2025 as a Christmas special.

Set against the colorful streets of Hyderabad, the story follows best friends Arun (Pranav Kaushik) and “Whisky” Vishnu Krishna (Vamsi Pujit), whose 12-year friendship is built on loyalty and their shared love for kite-flying. Their bond is tested when both fall in love with Aishwarya (Preethi Pagadala). The film blends romance, friendship, and a class-versus-mass rivalry within a professional kite-flying tournament, where competition in the skies soon spills into their personal lives.
