Paradha (2025)

Paradha is a Telugu-language social drama directed by Praveen Kandregula, built around a strong female-led narrative. The film stars Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran (making her Telugu debut), and Sangeetha Krish in key roles. Music for the film is composed by Gopi Sundar, and it was released theatrically on 22 August 2025.

Set in the fictional village of Padathi, the story explores deep-rooted patriarchy and regressive superstitions through a road-trip format. An ancient belief forces women to remain veiled (paradha) after puberty to avoid a divine curse. Trouble begins when Subbu’s (Anupama Parameswaran) veil accidentally slips and her face is photographed by a wildlife photographer, played by Gautham Vasudev Menon in a cameo. When the photo appears on a national magazine cover, village elders demand a ritual sacrifice. To save her life and challenge the superstition, Subbu sets out on a life-changing journey to Dharamshala with her aunt Rathna and Ami, a conflicted architect, turning the film into a powerful story of courage, identity, and resistance.
