Mareechika (2026)

Mareechika (transl. Mirage) is a Telugu-language psychological mystery crime thriller that was released in theatres on 29 May 2026. Written by Lakshmi Bhupala and directed by Satish Kasetty, the film is produced by Rajiv Chilaka and Meghhaa Chilakka under the Chilaka Productions and One More Hero banners. The movie stars Viraj Ashwin, Regina Cassandra, and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles, with music composed by the legendary maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Its blend of rural and urban settings gives the film a distinctive atmosphere and style.

The story begins when Venkata Lakshmi (Anupama Parameswaran), a simple village girl, creates panic by claiming that a young man named Sanjay “Sanju” (Viraj Ashwin) has been brutally murdered. At the same time, Mareechika (Regina Cassandra), a mysterious and influential woman, returns to India from the United States, adding more complexity to the case. As Sub-Inspector Anji Babu (Ajay Ghosh) leads the investigation, shocking secrets, complicated relationships, and psychological twists begin to emerge. Mareechika keeps audiences guessing by showing that nothing is truly as it appears, making it an intriguing and suspenseful crime thriller.
