Maatrubhumi (2026)

Maatrubhumi is a Hindi-language patriotic war drama inspired by the real-life 2020 Galwan Valley clash. The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan, but it was officially renamed to Maatrubhumi to reflect a broader and more emotional narrative. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film stars Salman Khan in a powerful role as Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, the brave Indian Army officer who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. Chitrangda Singh plays the female lead in the film.

While the movie is based on the historic confrontation in Ladakh, the new title and tagline, “May War Rest in Peace,” suggest a deeper focus on the human cost of war and the importance of peace. The film aims to present both the bravery of soldiers and the emotional impact of conflict on families and the nation. This film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 17 April 2026.
