KS Chithra, also known as Krishnan Nair Shantakumari Chithra, is an iconic playback singer in India, renowned for her versatility and emotive voice. Born on July 27, 1963, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, she grew up in a musically enriched environment. Her father, Krishnan Nair, was her first mentor, and she received formal training in Carnatic music under Dr. K. Omanakutty. Chithra’s talent flourished early, earning her the National Talent Search Scholarship.

She began her playback singing career in 1979 and quickly became a leading voice in Malayalam cinema. Her ability to sing in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and foreign languages, cemented her as one of India’s most revered singers.
