Kara (2026)

Kara is a Tamil-language heist and action thriller that was released in theatres on 30 April 2026. Directed by Vignesh Raja, with music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, the film stars Dhanush in his 54th lead role. The movie was also released in dubbed Hindi and Telugu versions with the same title. Set in the early 1990s during the Gulf War and India’s 1991 fuel crisis, Kara presents a gritty story filled with crime, survival, and emotional family struggles.

The story follows Karasaami, also known as Kara (Dhanush), a former thief who has left his criminal past behind to live peacefully with his wife Selli (Mamitha Baiju). However, when his father and the people of his village in Ramanathapuram become victims of a cruel loan trap that threatens their ancestral land, Kara is forced to return to crime. To save his family and village, he plans a dangerous series of bank robberies, leading to an intense journey of sacrifice, action, and justice.
