Haal (2025)

Haal is a Malayalam-language musical romantic drama, also released as a pan-Indian film in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Directed by debut filmmaker Veeraa and written by Nishad Koya, the film stars Shane Nigam and Sakshi Vaidya in the lead roles.

The story presents an intense and soulful portrayal of an interfaith love story between a Muslim boy and a Christian girl, who must face deep-rooted social stigma and strong opposition from their surroundings. The film has drawn attention for its high-budget production values and a powerful soundtrack that blends soulful melodies with contemporary rap.

Haal also made headlines due to a legal battle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over several contested scenes, including the depiction of interfaith dynamics and the consumption of beef biryani. After intervention by the Kerala High Court, which struck down several proposed cuts, the film was finally cleared for release. It hit theatres on 25 December 2025 as a Christmas release.
