Champion (2025)

Champion is a 2025 Telugu-language period sports drama directed by debutant Pradeep Advaitham and produced by Swapna Cinema. The film stars Roshan Meka, son of actor Srikanth, and marks the Telugu debut of Malayalam actress Anaswara Rajan. Set in the late 1940s, shortly after India’s independence and before the Hyderabad State’s merger with the Indian Union, the film blends the intensity of a historical uprising with the passion of football. Music for the film is composed by Mickey J. Meyer, and it was released theatrically on 25 December 2025 as a Christmas special.

The story follows Michael C. Williams (Roshan Meka), an Anglo-Indian footballer from Secunderabad who dreams of playing professionally in Manchester, England. His ambitions are blocked due to his father’s rebellious past against the British, forcing Michael into a risky weapon-smuggling deal to secure his future. This journey leads him to the village of Bhairanpally, where he witnesses the brutal atrocities committed by the Razakars. What begins as a personal dream transforms into a larger purpose, as Michael evolves from a self-centered athlete into a revolutionary leader who inspires villagers to stand up against oppression.
