Arjun Chakravarthy (2025)

Arjun Chakravarthy is a Telugu-language biographical sports drama written and directed by Vikrant Rudra. The film stars Vijaya Rama Raju in the lead role, supported by Sijaa Rose, Ajay, Ajay Ghosh, and Dayanand Reddy. Inspired by the real-life journey of a Kabaddi player from Nalgonda named Nagulayya, the film spans nearly two decades, from 1980 to 1996. Music for the film is composed by Vignesh Baskaran, and it was released theatrically on 29 August 2025.

The story follows Arjun (Vijaya Rama Raju), an orphan raised by a former athlete, who struggles against corruption in the sports system, personal loss, and his own battle with alcoholism on his path to becoming a national Kabaddi champion. The film received strong critical appreciation on the festival circuit, reportedly winning 46 international awards before its theatrical release. While performances and the realistic portrayal of rural sport were widely praised, some critics noted that the screenplay follows a familiar rise–fall–redemption pattern seen in sports dramas like Jersey.
